Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween! Halloween 2009 did not start out super well... Mommy, Daddy and I waited in line outside the hospital for five and a half hours so that Mommy and I could get our H1N1 vaccines. What a terrible way to start the day! Mommy and Daddy were very proud of how good I was while we were waiting in line. I got very scared when I saw the nurses in their scrubs, because I knew it meant I was going to get a shot. I was shaking and crying before they even poked me! After that, Jim and Grandma Edna came by for a short visit, and then Mommy and I took a long nap together. Grandma Libby came by with Halloween treats for me after my nap, and then I got into my costume and Mommy and Daddy and I went Trick or Treating along Main Street. They had all the roads closed, and all of the shops were giving out candy. It was cold and wet, so we didn't stay out for very long. I had a good time, except for in the very beginning, when the associate pastor from our church who was dressed up like Pooh Bear made me cry because he looked so funny! When we got home, I had fun helping Mommy and Daddy answer the door for all the trick or treaters. I also got to taste my first Kit Kat, and thought it was great fun to empty the candy bowl when Mommy and Daddy weren't looking! In other news, Mommy gave me my first haircut this past week, and I took my first two steps today! I stepped with my right foot, dragged my feet together, then stepped with my right foot again. Maybe tomorrow I'll work on right, left, right, left! Mommy was the only one who saw me take the steps... Daddy was busy putting furniture straps on all the dressers since we found out I am fully capable of tipping them over last weekend!

October: 13 months old

Happy October everyone! I have been enjoying the colorful crunchy leaves on my walks with Mommy. It's starting to get chilly in the mornings here in Seattle, so I've switched over to wearing my footed fleece pajamas at night. Mommy and Daddy are still working to get all of our things unpacked and in their proper place at our new house. I am proud to say that I now have eight teeth! They feel so funny in my mouth... I use my tongue to play with them all the time. I have my first cold of the season and have a yucky runny nose and cough. Mommy is very hopeful that I will turn a corner over the weekend, because I am feeling pretty miserable. I have been a more adventurous eater lately. My newest foods have included fish sticks, smoked salmon and spinach crepes, kiwi, and cranberry blueberry juice. I won't eat very much at one time, but Mommy and Daddy are concentrating on exposing me to lots of different flavors, and hoping that my appetite will eventually catch up!

My Family Birthday Party

Mommy and Daddy misplaced the camera again when we moved! Fortunately, my cousin Katie took a few pictures at my family birthday party. I had the BEST time that day! There were 30 of my relatives over at our new house for a barbeque, and the Antique Car Show was going on just a block away! My Grandma Libby made my cake. I got lots of really fun presents, including a musical table, books, a ladybug that I can ride on, blocks, and a truck... to name a few! I had my 12 month check up with the doctor on September 15th. I weighed 19lbs 6oz, and was 30 inches long. It looks like I'm going to take after my mommy in the weight department... I was only in the 15th percentile! The doctor was very pleased with how I am doing and said I looked great! I have been teething up a storm. I have three teeth on the bottom, plus a fourth that is really close to coming in. I have my two front teeth on top, but they have barely broken the surface, and I am working on two more up there as well. I have learned how to point to things that I want, or that I would like Mommy and Daddy to look at. I have also learned how to walk with my little walker toy, but have not taken my first unassisted steps yet. My newest discovery is the toilet paper roll. I just love to unroll it all over the floor! Mommy and Daddy can tell I am understanding more of what they say now, and are anxious to see what my next word will be. My favorite things right now are dogs and airplanes. Mommy and I go looking for both on our walks each day. Hopefully Mommy and Daddy will find their camera while they are unpacking more of the boxes this weekend. I'm sure they will be taking a ton of pictures of me once they find it!

My Birthday, Part 1

Mommy and Daddy were both home today for my birthday, which made it super special! I got up at 7:30am, and we spent the morning doing some of my favorite things: taking a bath, eating breakfast, and rough-housing with Daddy! Mommy and Daddy let me open the presents they had bought for me, so I had some new toys to play with. I took a nap, and then we had lunch at PCC. I was more interested in throwing the food on the floor than putting it in my mouth! After lunch, we went to the Woodland Park Zoo. I had a really fun time in the Zoomazium, and loved looking at all of the animals in the exhibits. My favorite exhibit today was the nocturnal exhibit... I thought the armadillos were really funny! We ate ice cream at the zoo, and I took a short nap in my softpack while Mommy and Daddy finished walking around. When we got home, I had one more present to open from my Grandma Libby, we went on a walk, and then I got to eat a WHOLE cupcake! I ate all of the frosting off of the top, and then threw the cupcake on the ground. Then I realized how tired I was and completely fell apart. I slept in my swing, listening to my new lullaby CD, while Mommy and Daddy ate dinner. Then they carried me to bed. What a day! We get the keys to our new house tomorrow, and should be all moved in by next Monday. We are having my extended family over for a birthday party next weekend. I'll get to celebrate being one all over again!
