More pictures

Well, my new cousin arrived!  Mikayla Anne was 7lbs 10oz, 19 3/4 inches long.  I am looking forward to meeting her!  Auntie Alex thinks that I look HUGE in comparison... I AM getting quite large.  Mommy has had to stop carrying me in my carseat because she was getting bruises up and down her leg trying to lift me in it!  She also realized that I would need some more winter clothes that were in 9month size, and went out today to get a few things.  Even though the stores are phasing out the winter clothes and bringing in the spring clothes, we are going to have quite a bit more cold weather here before it is really spring!! Thanks Mommy for thinking ahead!  My gums have been bothering me a lot the past few days... Mommy and Daddy keep feeling for a tooth, but none to report yet.  I had my first diaper rash this week, which will explain why I am in a cloth diaper in one of the pictures down below.  We didn't have any diaper pins since I am normally exclusively a Pampers fellow, so Mommy got creative and tied a ribbon around my middle to keep the diaper up!!  It sure felt good to air dry for a little while.  Well, I am feeling whiney and desperately need some cuddle time with Mommy.  Daddy is baking cookies downstairs... it won't be long, and I'll be old enough to have a taste!

In my shorts on the day it was a balmy 58 degrees...hee hee!

5 Months

Well hello there!  Mommy and Daddy have both been under the weather the past few weeks, so it's been awhile since we've posted pictures.  I will be five months old tomorrow.  I am now able to sit up on my own, but I am still pretty wobbly, so Mommy and Daddy sit behind me just in case I flop.  I have also learned how to stick my tongue out in a little point, which Mommy and Daddy think is very funny!  My new favorite game is peek-a-boo.  I love it when Mommy and Daddy hide their faces and then say, "BOO".  If Mommy is holding me and Daddy is nearby, I will bury my face in Mommy's shoulder, and then turn my head around really fast to look at Daddy.  It is SO much fun!  Last night we played for about 45 minutes before Mommy and Daddy decided it was time to find a new game.  I have been having a growth spurt, which means my poor Mommy is very tired.  I am just so HUNGRY at night, that I have to wake her up about once every 90 minutes.  When I'm not growing, I am eating about once every three hours.  Mommy is going to start making some of my baby food in the food processor now that she knows what I like.  Prunes, sweet potatoes, and squash are my current favorites.  I have a new baby cousin (well, third cousin if you want to get technical) being born today!  Mikayla Ann Hansen is being delivered by c-section today.  We are waiting for that special phone call saying that she has arrived!

Hi Mommy, I'm not tired...

Oh good, you're looking at me... we can play!!

Five minutes later, down for the count.

Four and a half months

Mommy and Daddy can't believe how fast I am growing!  I am eating rice cereal with pureed fruit once a day now, and drinking Mommy's milk the rest of the time.  I have discovered my shrill voice and love to scream, just to hear myself!  Mommy and Daddy think I might be the next Pavarotti.  I have also started teething.  I've had a rough last few days... my gums are really bothering me!  Mommy has been giving me Infant Tylenol in yummy grape flavor twice a day, and Sophie the Giraffe (my teether toy)  is currently my best friend.  Mommy started teaching her class at the community college last week.  She is teaching private lessons on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings for two hours at Kennelly Keys Music, a K-4 general music class for an hour on Thursday mornings, and the class at Shoreline Community College on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for an hour and a half.  I have started to get kind of upset when she is leaving... whenever Grandma Libby comes over to babysit, I know Mommy is getting ready to leave, and start to sniffle.  But, the good news is that Mommy always comes back!  Now that I am eating foods, I thought I would give you my critique of the different pureed fruits that I have tried:
PEACHES: Please see pictures in earlier blog... yuck!
BANANAS: Yum, yum, yum!!
APPLESAUCE: The jury is still out on this one... I can't help but make funny faces while I eat this one, but I'm starting to get used to the taste.
PRUNES: I LOVE these, but they sure do make a mess... on my face AND in my diaper!

Next up will be pears.  Yes, even though they are the one food Mommy hates, she is willing to let me try them!

Peaches

I had my 4 month check-up with Dr. Bennett yesterday.  I weighed in at a whopping 15 pounds!  Dr. Bennett said I was right on track developmentally.  I got my shots, which was not fun for me OR for Mommy.  I've had a little bit of a fever today, and have been sleeping almost all day long.  Mommy gave me some Tylenol, which seemed to help.  Dr. Bennett encouraged Mommy and Daddy to mix some fruit with my rice cereal because it would make it taste sweeter, and she thought I would like it better.  So, last night we tried peaches.  YUCK!!!  I did NOT like the taste at all!  Mommy plans to continue nursing me for several more months, but I will start getting cereal once a day right before bed.  I am also going to start taking a liquid multi-vitamin so that I get extra vitamin D.  That doesn't taste very good either!!
Eww... that didn't taste right.

Oh man!  That tasted terrible!
Yucky, yucky, yucky!

4 Months old!

Mommy and Daddy can't believe I'm already four months old!  I go in for my 4 month well baby check-up with Dr. Bennett tomorrow morning, and will be getting my next round of vaccinations.  Mommy and I are not looking forward to the shots.  I am learning how to do many new things.  My latest accomplishments include figuring out how to pull my socks off, and rolling onto my side to play with my feet.  I tried rice cereal for the first time last night, but didn't really like the taste.  I like Mommy's milk much better!  Mommy and Daddy had been told that once I had some cereal in my tummy, I would probably sleep better at night.  They were super excited when I ate my cereal, nursed, and promptly fell asleep at 8:30pm.  They rushed to get ready for bed, and had just crawled under the covers around 9pm when I woke up wailing.  I was SO upset that Mommy and I had to cuddle for awhile until I fell asleep around 10:30.  I woke up hungry at 2:15am, 3:45am, 5am, 7am, and 8am before finally deciding to get up for good around 9:45!  So, Mommy is not feeling too confident that cereal is going to be the magic thing that makes me sleep through the night!  She IS hoping that I'll start deciding to go to bed a little earlier than midnight, and getting up a little earlier than noon!

Surprise!  I pulled my sock off!
Working on sock number 2!

Christmas with the Mahoney's

We had our celebration with the Mahoney side of the family today at Great Aunt Linda's house.  Everyone was so excited to see me, and I met many of my extended family for the first time!  I took a short nap while we were there, but stayed up for the majority of the afternoon.  Once we got home, I fussed for awhile and then fell fast asleep.  I was SO tired!
